A friend passed away a few days ago and the funeral is to be held today. I expect there will be a fair crowd of people attending the service as he was a well-respected man in his trade. That the period of mourning falls during the holiday week is neither here nor there – it would be a sad thing at any time of the year.
I can only hope that the weather is moderate – Perth in summer can be fierce and mid-day at Karrakatta before the sea breeze comes in is not easy to bear. The families will be distraught enough as it is without heat stress. I think they try to mitigate it as much as possible with trees but still air is still hot. They’ve got a week of it to bear indoors as well.
Back to more cheerful topics tomorrow.
